The Leadership Development Framework

What exactly is the Leadership Development Framework?

Leaders' actions are the result of their own internal 'action logic', in other words how they personally make sense of their situation. The Leadership Development Framework (LDF) is a stage-based description of nine action logics that describes how a leader's sense-making process matures over the course of their life creating ever-greater potential for leadership performance.

The action logics describe an individual's ability to recognise, act on and shape the core conventions of their thought and behaviour. Every action logic offers a number of developmental possibilities, each more complex than the last. Progression through these action logics is far from certain. Harthill helps leaders to identify their action logics and to consciously evolve their leadership capability.

The LDF and its associated psychometric tool, the Leadership Development Profile (LDP) provide deep insight into how each person acts in the world. This opens up unseen perspectives that often generate the impetus for transformational change in the individual, their teams and the wider context they inhabit both at work and beyond.
