Building (your clients') Emotional Resilience
hosted by Jonathan Reams
Resilience has come into the spotlight lately and it is important to focus on its emotional foundations. While it is common to describe what good resilience and emotional intelligence look like, applying a developmental process for building them is often lacking. Our approach to development is informed by dynamic skill theory, tapping into natural processes for building robust capabilities (in this case, emotional resilience) – through focusing on underlying micro-skills with intentional practices.
The Building Emotional Resilience (BER) programme, run in partnership with Adeptify, uses these micro-skill developmental practices that guide people through a process of building self-awareness in layers and then using those building blocks to enable a new habit that can fuel an engine of habituating development. The programme is designed to support individual as well as group processes through a combination of online self-paced instructions with coaching and/or social learning. The curriculum is grounded in participants’ everyday life. This enables ongoing learning from direct, personally relevant and developmentally appropriate experiences and meaning-making.
The programme will begin 6 October and have 90-minute online meetings every two weeks until 1 December. Please note, it is not required nor essential to attend all sessions. Between these sessions, the main ‘work’ will happen asynchronously in a platform designed to guide and support the process. Taking the programme is a first step in being able use it with your own clients. In early 2026, there will be a facilitator training programme offered to enable you to run the programme yourself for clients.
