Hailing from Galway in the West of Ireland, Nial is passionate about human development and enjoys his work as a developmental facilitator/coach. He has worked as a consultant and executive coach for 18 years, including one-to-one executive coaching, leadership development coaching, team coaching and group development facilitation. Having worked in senior leadership and executive positions himself in a 25-year corporate career previously, Nial has the ability to establish credibility and trust at executive level very quickly. He works with clients in Ireland, the UK, and more recently on-line, he has worked with clients across the globe. His sectoral experience is diverse including retail, banking, engineering, medical device, technology, the public sector and with charities. He authored and teaches a module on Vertical Leadership Development on the Executive MBA programme at the National University of Ireland Galway and provides Personal Leadership and Team Development Coaching to the Universities Bioinnovate Ireland programme.


Nial holds an MSc in Executive and Business Coaching from the Smurfit Business School at University College Dublin. It was here his interest in Adult Development was ignited, learning about the work of Robert Kegan. He was inspired by Rooke and Torbert’s famous HBR Article ‘The Seven Transformations of Leadership’ and went on to train with David. He later joined Harthill as a Director and co-owner.


Nial's passion is the facilitation of development in people, teams and organisations. Taking a person-centred, relational approach shaped by his Gestalt based training with Peter Bluckert and the Cape Cod Institute, his work is devoted to supporting people to learn about development and ways to leverage it. He has explored many approaches and methodologies such as dealing with unfinished business, changing habits and beliefs, increased self-awareness, emotional intelligence, mindfulness and many more in the quest to have a comprehensive menu of options for people to draw on for their individually unique journey. Nial is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and a member of the Division of Work and Organisational Psychology of the Psychological Society of Ireland.


A deeply caring man with a humble, compassionate and witty personality Nial has an unusual ability to connect with people, and is a natural coach in both business and wider life.
